The Idol's most outrageous sex scenes as star

Mar 09, 2024Mar 09, 2024

THE raunchy TV series, The Idol, with A-list stars was axed after just one series - but was it that explicit?

We take a look at the most raunchiest and most controversial scenes after Deadline confirmed that The Idol will not be returning for a second season.

HBO and Sky Atlantic viewers were left gobsmacked by the five-part show, which featured graphic and abusive sex scenes.

Many actresses blush at the idea of stripping off for the cameras – but Lily-Rose Depp wasn't one of them.

Controversy has surrounded her new role in The Idol, where she has been accused of flashing her naked breasts and bottom too much.

But in an exclusive interview, the 24-year-old — whose parents are actors Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis — says it is all in good taste.

And she revealed she enjoyed baring all for sex scenes.

Lily-Rose, whose pop diva character Jocelyn is struggling to make a comeback following a mental breakdown in the show, even claims the scenes felt “therapeutic” and that she didn’t consider a body double.

She explained: “It’s all me. I love doing that kind of work. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with enjoying that kind of work."

The model turned actress faced Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, who played Tedros, a nightclub impresario with a troubled past.

Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son and Hank Azaria also featured in the line-up.

Some of the most raunchiest and most controversial scenes from the series include Jocelyn dancing with nearly no clothes.

The production team decided not to tell Jocelyn of the 'revenge p*rn' circulating online, instead decided to let her continue the dance for her music video.

The routine ended with Jocelyn posed, legs akimbo and a man behind her with his hand on her vulva.

Another moment was when Jocelyn headed to a club where she met its owner Tedros.

He noticed her and begged her for a dance over the microphone and the two soon get very close. They began kissing and he even performed a sexual act with his hands on her in the stairwell on camera.

Viewers were also shocked when Tedros choked Jocelyn with fabric and whipped out a knife.

He ended up wrapping the fabric of her night gown around her head and choking her with it at the same time.

It's an act that is dubious, but she seems to somehow like it.

He then makes her open her mouth and he pierces a whole in the fabric with a knife, right where her mouth is and somehow without nicking her she can finally breathe again.

And lastly there's a very awkward dirty talk scene.

An uncomfortable ten minutes was dedicated to Jocelyn presenting herself to Tedros, while he engaged in some very descriptive dirty talk.

To make it worse, Chloe was watching them from inside the closet.

Many viewers took to social media to put The Idol on blast with film journalist and broadcaster Leila Latif branding it "one of the worst programmes ever made" in a review for The Guardian.

Savaged by critics and TV fans alike, The Idol also received a shockingly low score of 19% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Since the show's cancellation was made official, many viewers took to Twitter to voice their opinions one last time.

"Thinking about how Sam Levinson said the idol was about to be 'the biggest show of the summer' only for it to be cut short and cancelled after 1 season", one of them quipped.

Another added: "The Idol was cancelled. Good because wtf was that? It’s so hard to watch. I got a few minutes into episode 3 and turned it off."

A third viewer called for Sam Levinson to focus on one of his most successful projects.

"Now that The Idol is cancelled maybe Mr Samantha can focus on Euphoria!", they wrote.
